Aside from running the photo booth hire company our photographer, Jamie O’Rourke also spends a lot of time as an event photographer in Hereford. As you can imagine, when not on the job he still likes to get out and about with his camera and seeing what he can come up with. Fortunately, one of his photos has been deemed suitable by those at the UK’s “Practical Photography Magazine” headquarters and has made it to print in this months issue (June 2011, Page 81)!
The photo of the lizard was taken at the Benalmedena Seaworld park in Malaga, Spain late last year. Part of their exhibition included an “Amazonian House”, full to the brim with reptiles, snakes, ants and other creepy crawlies.
What makes this photo stand out is the conditions in which it was taken – a near-dark room, handheld and through a misty, dirty panel of glass. For the technically minded, it was shot at; 70mm, 1/30th f/5.6 ISO800 (handheld, manual focus).
So next time you’re in the newsagents, see if you can grab a copy and let us know what you think.
