Is This The Worlds First Shaped QR Code?

You might have heard about QR Codes – or “Quick Response Code” – you will certainly have seen them. The QR code is often a small 2 dimensional square barcode that, once scanned using your phone or other mobile device, will offer you various new bits of information. It might contain a virtual business card that you can save to your phone, maybe a message or a link to a website.

Example QR Codes

QR codes are becoming more and more popular, with many graphic enthusiasts going nuts with the various design options available. So when we decided to make our latest QR Code, we wanted something that would stand out, something that wasn’t just a coloured in picture with a logo slapped in the middle. And what we came up with might just be the worlds first shaped QR code! (possibly, we couldn’t find any others :P)

There are many QR codes hidden in shapes, but they are always square, or soft squares with the shape built around them. What we wanted to do was change the perceived shape of the QR code itself – ok so it’s still “square” overall, but we wanted to chop pieces out to change the perception of the shape from looking like a standard QR code that had been coloured in. It actually worked surprisingly well, in fact, so well that we expected Google to be full of chopped up – working – QR codes; but it wasn’t.

So here we have it, our new Shaped QR Code! Designed by Jamie O’Rourke of our parent company Voodoo Red Media ltd.

We’ve Launched Photo of the Month

Photo of the Month August 2011With all of the excitement that happens inside the photo booth at the weddings, birthdays and corporate events we go to, we thought we’d start a “Picture of the Month” album.

For now, we’re choosing the best picture that we think sums up the fun inside the photo booth and adding it to our facebook album at http://photos.myphotobooth.co.uk.

But, of course, it wouldn’t be as fun if we didn’t get you involved too. So right now, we’re working on a way to let you choose which photo you think should be awarded “Picture of the Month”. Hopefully we’ll have a voting system in place soon and the picture with the most votes will win the title!

Watch this space for updates and, of course, don’t forget to like our facebook page and join in the fun.

New Website is up and running!

After many many hours of work, cups of coffee and long nights writing code listening music, the new myPhotobooth website is ready to go live!

As I’m sure you will agree, the new design is much more cleaner, more interactive and has a whole host of additional information included – and of course plenty of nice pictures! As you can see from the image above, the old site looked a little lack-lustre so we decided to give it a spruce up. Included in the new layout is a dedicated FAQ section, a prices section so that you can find out how much a photo booth costs, a feedback section so you can see what our clients have to say about our photo booth hire and a small gallery of photos.

Of course there is still plenty more work to be done, the comments section needs a bit of a tidy up and there are a couple more tweaks and features to be added but we’ll get there.

Don’t forget that you can still follow us on Twitter and join the fun on our facebook page where you’ll find plenty more images and galleries from our adventures with our photo booth.

Working through the new website

It’s not easy work, but we’re chomping through it! Now that Easter is over and William and Kate have tied the knot, there’s a bit more time to knuckle down on the site development. The new website is slowly taking shape and will be packed full of features, so look out for our up and coming galleries, testimonials and new FAQ’s. Of course, if you have any questions in the meantime, head on over to our contact page – we’d love to hear from you. For all of you social networking fans out there, you can now find us on twitter and look us up on facebook
